School patron bodies in Dublin 15 have been invited to apply for the patronage of a new post-primary school for the Carpenterstown/Castleknock area, Joan has said. The new school is due to be established in September 2017.

Welcoming the announcement today by her colleague, Education Minister Jan O’Sullivan, Joan Burton said:

“I’m delighted that we have been able to previously announce a new secondary school for the Castleknock and Carpenterstown area. It’s much needed and will help to meet the growing demographic demand for a school that exists in this area.

“Today is the latest step forward in getting that school project underway. Patron bodies, including the ETB and Educate Together, and prospective patron bodies who are interested in this project are today being invited to apply for the patronage of the new school.

“Parental demand will be one of the main considerations taken into account by the Department in deciding on the patronage.”

“I look forward to progress being made on the selection of a site for the new school, which will serve a large population area in Dublin 15.”
