Joan Burton Welcomes Additional Special Needs Classrooms
Joan Burton TD, Minister for Social Protection has welcomed the announcement from The National Council for Special Education (NCSE) which today announced that 4 new classes for children with special needs are scheduled to open in September in the Dublin 15 area. These new classes will cater for children with special needs in mainstream primary and post primary schools.
The schools in Dublin 15 are as follows:
Colaiste Pobail Setanta Phibblestown, Clonee Dublin 15.
Tyrelstown ETNS Hollywood Rd, Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15.
Sacred Heart of Jesus NS Huntstown, Mulhuddart, Dublin 15.
St Francis Xavier Senior N.S. Roselawn Road, Castleknock, Dublin 15.
Minister Burton said, “I welcome the announcement of the new classes which will support the education of children with special needs. These additional classes will enable students with special needs to move from primary to post primary schools. While most of these classes have been allocated at primary level, there has been an increase in the number of special classes available at post-primary level. This Government continues to prioritise and invest in supports for children with special needs”.
