MINISTER BURTON WELCOMES INVESTMENT IN DUBLIN WEST SCHOOLS
Joan Burton TD, Minister for Social Protection, today (December 19) announced a list of school construction and refurbishment projects for 2012.
Minister Burton said the government was prioritising investment in school buildings.
“I am delighted to announce this major investment programme. This government wants to make sure that every child in Ireland has access to the best possible physical school space,’’ she said.
The investment in Dublin West schools is part of a €430 million national investment in educational infrastructure next year. This represents the first phase of a €2 billion five year plan for major school building projects.
Minister Burton said; “We are prioritising Dublin West, because of the large population increase in recent years. I will continue to work closely with the Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn, TD to ensure that Dublin West gets the best possible schools”.
The schools that are to be constructed in Dublin West are:
• Luttrellstown Community College – New School Post-Primary
• Mulhuddart National School – New School Primary
• Scoil Bhride, Blanchardstown – New School Primary
• Blanchardstown West Educate Together National School – New School Primary
The schools that are to be refurbished and/or extended are:
• St. Brigid’s National School, Castleknock, Dublin 15
• Scoil Choilm, Diswellstown, Porterstown, Dublin 15
