Burton Presses Council to Tackle Dublin 15 Litter

Deputy Burton has welcomed news that Fingal County Council is to step up their efforts to combat litter in Dublin 15. She had previously written to the Council to demand the introduction of more litter bins and more regular litter-picking.

Fingal County Council referred specifically to bins which had been removed from the Clonsilla Road by the contractor for Dublin Bus which have now been replaced. They also referred specifically to the area around St. Brigids’ GAA club which will see the introduction of a new bin beside the bus stop and regular litter-picking. Steps are being taken to minimise the amount of litter blowing onto the site of the Coolmine sports centre. In addition, the Council committed to carrying out a general survey of the area to see whether new bins are needed. If you feel there is a need for a litter bin in your area, get in touch with Joan at joan@joanburton.ams2-c6-1.anuhosting.net and she will pass this on to the Council.

Deputy Burton commented “While there is an element of individual responsibility when it comes to littering, the least people can expect is that there are enough litter bins around. Unfortunately, they are often few and far between.”

“Litter can blight neighbourhoods and make them much less attractive to live in. I’m glad to hear that the Council are stepping up efforts to cut down on litter and looking at areas which may need new bins. A little more action from the Council and a little more individual responsibility will go a long way towards addressing this problem.”
