Joan has congratulated local clubs who have been granted funding under the Government’s 2015 sports capital programme, details of which were released today.
Both Castleknock GAA club and Castleknock Celtic have been successful, and St Mochta’s Football Club and Mulhuddart Community Centre will also receive funding. In Dublin 7, funding has been awarded to Martin Savage Park on the Navan Road, and Phoenix Cricket Club.
The sports capital grants assists clubs to improve and upgrade their facilities and equipment.
Joan said: “This funding will come as great news for the successful clubs. I want to congratulate both Castleknock clubs and St Mochta’s FC, as well as Mulhuddart Community Centre and the Phoenix Cricket Club. I know they will put the funding to great use for the benefit of the club and the wider community. Likewise the investment in Martin Savage Park will lead to improved facilities for local residents. The hard work of local communities and the standard of the applications made by the clubs have clearly paid off.
“Sports clubs and organisations are the lifeblood and driving force of communities across Dublin West, and this funding will encourage more people to become more active and healthy. It’s proof that the Government values the role and contribution that clubs make.”
