The development of a much needed new graveyard for Dublin 15 has taken a major step forward this week, Tánaiste and Labour TD for Dublin West, Joan Burton, has confirmed.
The Tánaiste said: “I have been informed by Paul Reid that an additional graveyard has been identified for Dublin 15, to be located at a site in Kellystown.
“I understand that Fingal County Council will now move to get planning and design of the graveyard underway without delay.
“There has been concern for some time about the lack of graveyard spaces in Dublin 15, given the enormous population growth the area has experienced, and the fact that many traditional graveyards are under huge pressure.
“The Labour Party in Dublin West has sought this for a considerable period. In particular, my late colleague former Castleknock Councillor Peggy Hamill campaigned on the issue of a new graveyard for many years, so I’m very pleased that it has now taken a major step forward.”
