In response to a question posed by Deputy Joan Burton on the lack of facilities in Dublin West schools, Minister Hanafin showed just how much concern she has for the problem. NONE!
Deputy Burton asked the Minister, on 25th May, about the continued lack of gym facilities in two schools in Dublin West: Castleknock Community College and St. Brigid’s School, Castleknock. Deputy Burton was astounded by the Minister’s response:
‘The Minister gave an insulting response, merely rehashing large passages from some policy document, without even referring to the specific problems that St. Brigid’s and the Castleknock Community College have. To compound the insult, the only specific project which the Minister referred to in her response was the building of a leisure centre in Ballyfermot! So in response to a question about gym facilities in Castleknock, the Minister responds about Ballyfermot. This Minister needs to get real and finally show some concern and respect for the problems of inadequate gym facilities suffered by the schools of Dublin West.
