POST OFFICE IN CORDUFF TO CLOSE AT THE END OF AUGUST

Deputy Burton has expressed her dismay at the news that the Corduff post office will close at the end of this month.

Corduff residents will now have to travel to a new post office in Mulhuddart, approximately one and a half miles from the existing post office in Corduff with no direct public transport links.

Deputy Burton said, “I welcome the announcement of a new post office for Mulhuddart but I am very surprised, given the population growth in the area, that An Post are not using this as an opportunity to expand the postal service in the area. With more and more people moving into the area, the postal service should be increasing, not decreasing. This is a real blow for the local community in Corduff, who are already suffering from a lack of local services.”

“Local customers without their own means of transport, particularly pensioners, will have find it very difficult to travel an extra mile and a half on their regular journeys to the post office.”

“I have made representations to An Post to ask them to consider alternative arrangements that would allow a post office outlet to continue to operate in Corduff”.
