Registered to Vote?

In order to vote, your name must be entered on the Register of Electors, which is compiled by your local County Council. The 2019-2020 Register of Electors will apply to the 2020 General Election, and the Supplementary Register to that.

To ensure you are registered to vote:

  • check online at www.checktheregister.ie; or ask to see the Register of Electors at your local post office, Garda station, library or County Council offices.
  • If your details are not included on the 2019-2020 register, you should contact your local County Council and check if your details are included in the Supplement to the Register of Electors.
  • If your details are not included in either the register or the supplement to the register, you should obtain a Supplementary Registration form (RFA2) (available here), complete the relevant form, bring it along with photo ID to your local Garda station who will then witness the form. Forms must reach the relevant County Council on or before close of business on Wednesday, 22 January in order to be register to vote in the 2020 General Election.
